Lilly Pulitzer Inspired Graduation Cap

For my cap, I chose the Lilly Pulitzer print Shorely Blue Chomp Chomp. I went to the Lilly Pulitzer website and clicked on the "Shop Prints" section. Click "View this print full size". I printed 4 pages of the pattern.

For the edges of my cap I got a few strands of pearls from the craft store.

It's good to start with a lot of options so you have patterns and decorations to pick from.

I used satin modpodge to adhere the pattern to a piece of poster board I cut to fit the size of my cap.

I applied a thin layer of modpodge to the back of the print, and I was careful to match up the pattern so it was seamless.

I cut a hole so the button where the tassel attaches could come through.

I attached each pearl with E-6000 glue.

I cut a piece of seersucker in the shape of a bow tie and embroidered the corner with my initials. To make the piece of fabric more stable, I ironed it to fusible interfacing (*Optional).

I glued my bow to my cap with E-6000 and lined it with mini pearls to make it stand out. Finally, I used hot glue to attach the poster board to my actual cap. To cover the black button in the center I glued a left over piece of pattern.
