Tartan + Silk

I'm kind of in love with these tartan pants I found last fall at Forever 21 for under $20. The obvious color to pair them with is navy, but I decided to try black for this outfit. I'm wearing a black silk racer back tank & my favorite bow heels.

Layering with Black & Light Blue

A recent favorite combo is to pair light blue with black, the colors compliment each other so well! Lots of layering creates this outfit & makes it interesting. Feel like changing up your everyday style? Try layering a sweater or a shirt over an oxford button down for a new look.

Makeup Favorites

These are a few of my makeup favorites I use everyday. I have tried so many liquid foundations, but I finally found my favorite! I love NARS sheer glow because of the formula & because they offer so many shades. I wear the color "Mont Blanc" & "Siberia" depending on if I have a tan or not. For eyeliner I use MAC Pearlglide in the shade "Lord it Up".  My all time favorite mascara is "They're Real!" by Benefit. I love the shape of the brush & the formula really enhances my lashes. For blush & bronzer I use the shades "Orgasm" & "Laguna" by NARS. My go to eye shadow is "All that Glitters" by MAC. I am obsessed with this lip color "Roman Holiday" also by NARS. The best face wash/ makeup remover to take it all off is Purity by Philosophy! I can use this wash around my eyes and it doesn't bother them at all. CLICK the images to shop the post!

Weekend Travel in Gingham

This is a very simple pulled together travel outfit I wore this weekend. These Lilly Pulitzer Worth Skinny pants are super soft & comfortable. I added my favorite gingham button down from Gap, my comfiest sandals, & this cognac tote I can't get enough of.

Devon Alana Silk Bow Dress

Have you ever had an idea for a formal dress but just can't find it anywhere?! I gave up searching for the perfect dress and I decided to design my own! I found this beautiful royal blue silk fabric at Jo Ann fabrics & I knew it would be perfect for this one-shouldered bow maxi I dreamed up in my head. I am so pleased with how the dress turned out! I don't follow store-bought  patterns for my garments, so I don't have concrete directions, but here are some tips! *You can always email me with questions {devonalanadesign@gmail.com}

-Start with the waist band & attach a pleated skirt
-Use an invisible zipper down the side rather than down the back
-Try the dress on multiple times while sewing
-Use quality fabric, it is worth it {link to fabric}

I designed this dress for my friend's wedding this weekend & it was absolutely perfect! The dress turned out exactly how I envisioned it (that doesn't always happen). I paired the dress with this gold clutch & always classic Steve Madden Stecy heels. I kept my jewelry simple since the dress makes such a statement.
